Kristin Smart was rapped and murdered by a fellow student Paul Flores in 1996 when she was coming back to her dormitory at 2 am and two students tried to help her to leave her dorm when a third student said to the students that he would leave her to her home safely.
She disappeared from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo in 1996 after this incident, she was never seen and there is no trace of her alive. Smart’s family and her parents were shocked by her disappearance news and they tried to find their daughter but they could not. They got the news of her daughter that she was no more in 2002.

How Did Kristin Smart Die?
Paul Flores, who is 46 years old as of 2023. He was convicted of killing Kristin Smart and he revealed that he killed Kristin during an attempted rape in his dorm room at the university in 1996, where they were both first students.
On April 2021, Paul Flores and his father were charged with killing a nineteen-year-old woman Kristin Smart and they were arrested and taken into custody. Then, there was an investigation embarked on, and items of interest were found in Paul’s home.
On 10 March 2023, Paul was sentenced to 25 years to life in jail. The trial was held in Monterey County Superior Court in Salinas, California.
